Ne-Yo: So Sick Of Rumors
Posted by Diva on 20 Nov 2006 @ 02:33 am
For some reason T-Mobile must be rubbing their hands at the free publicity they get from today’s favorite under 25 males. With the break up of Christina Milian and Wildin Out Nick Cannon being literally at the hands of a T-Mobile insider, a punch was thrown at Neyo thanks to a picture taken by a T-Mobile device. After he was assumed to be gay, thanks to an imaginary testimonial during an Essence magazine interview which never happened and to an Essence reporter who doesn’t actually exist, suddenly to add ‘fuel to the fire’ a somewhat personal pic ended up on the internet of Neyo with an assumed video girl in a very intimate position. It was mentioned that the photograph was put out to end the ‘gay’ rumor surrounding him, but Neyo denies that profusely in this exclusive interview with HipHopDX.com.
Talking to him you have to admire his attitude to this situation. With fame there always comes hate, no matter how nice you are or how liked you may be and even though he still cant fathom out where the rumors came from, he gets that you just have to literally take the ‘rough with the smooth’ to stay ahead in the music industry.
Here he talks about ‘yes’ men, his role as Executive Producer on the MTV Save the Last Dance 2 soundtrack and just how his Momma had to check a person who talked bad about her baby. With a 2007 album release date to look forward to, Neyo definitely won’t be stuck for content to sing about after this year.
How hard has it been for you to deal with your success?
Ne-Yo: Not hard at all, it’s a blessing. I’ve been trying to do the music thing for a long time and everything is coming to fruition now and I am blessed. I thank God for everything.
A lot of people say there is a down side to reaping the benefits, you know a down side to stardom, would you agree?
Catching Up With Chris Brown and Ne-Yo
Posted by Diva on 20 Nov 2006 @ 01:25 am
Unless you've been living under a rock, chances are you've been walking around with a Chris Brown or Ne-Yo song in your head for the past year. With the two R&B stars going head to head for the American Music Award for Favorite Male Artist on November 21, TeenPeople.com caught up with each of them to try and level the playing field.
Ne-Yo jumped into the spotlight when he released his debut album, In My Own Words, which delivered hit after hit with songs like "So Sick" and "Sexy Love". You may not have known you were grooving to one of Ne-Yo's creations when you were listening to Beyonce's latest, "Irreplaceable," or Rihanna's "Unfaithful," but he wrote both of those hit songs.
Recently, Ne-Yo made his film debut with a role in Save The Last Dance 2, and co-executive produced the soundtrack for the movie. "It was just a cool experience working with the different artists," he says of the soundtrack, which included songs by Cassie. T-Pain, and Ruben Studdard.
Meanwhile, it's been one year since Ne-Yo's friend and Scream 5 tourmate Chris Brown's self-titled debut album exploded with hits like "Run It" and "Gimme That" and his crazy dance moves made him a household name (so much so that he was recently selected to perform Michael Jackson classic “Thriller” at the World Music Awards). "We got a chance to have fun on tour, me and Ne-Yo going out there every night and rockin' the crowd," says Chris. "We were friends before the tour," he says.
Bummed out you missed these guys on tour together? You're in luck! Both hunks will appear in the movie Stomp The Yard in theatres January 12. "I play a nice little role in the movie." says Chris. "I play a character named Daran, the main character's younger brother, so it's a good first look for me as far as acting goes."
Ne-Yo's Next Movie: 4 Chosen
Posted by Diva on 20 Nov 2006 @ 01:20 am
This movie is currently in Pre-production but here is some information about it. Ne-Yo will play the character of Keshon Moore. It is tentatively scheduled for a 2008 release. It is a Drama/Crime/Sport movie and seems like it will be very deep!
Plot: 4CHOSEN is a true story of courage and survival that began when the dreams of four young men were suddenly shattered in a hail of bullets on April 23, 1998. Danny Reyes was a burgeoning college basketball star when he set off on a road trip in a rented minivan with Jarmaine Grant, Keshon Moore, and Rayshawn Brown, intending to go from New York to North Carolina to a basketball talent showcase, where their skills would be seen by college recruiters. They never made it past Exit 7A on the New Jersey Turnpike. Without just cause or provocation, two New Jersey state troopers pulled them over and fired 13 shots into the van, seriously injuring three of the boys. The fight had just begun for Danny and his friends. Enlisting the help of attorney David Ironman, the boys fought for justice. Together they broke open one of the largest racial profiling cases in American history. In an epic story that stretches all the way to Washington DC and involves such prominent individuals as Christie Todd Whitman, Johnny Cochran, and Al Sharpton, 4CHOSEN is the personal tale that makes the events so remarkable. The shooting brought the four young men together; forever connected by memories of the horrible event. Danny also became close friends with David Ironman, who relentlessly pursued justice above all else. Ironman's investigation exposed the disturbing truth behind racial profiling, as well as the corrupt police officers that put it into practice that night on the Turnpike. Fighting against a stone wall of opposition from government and state agencies, Ironman gave hope back to Danny and the boys at a time when almost all hope was lost. Danny and the three other boys rose from the ashes of their dreams and made remarkable lives for themselves - discovering that it takes more than bullets to destroy the human spirit.

Ne-Yo Saves the "Last Dance" for Us!
Posted by Diva on 20 Nov 2006 @ 12:48 am
R&B cutie Ne-Yo has stepped up to soundtrack producing with Save the Last Dance 2, a film sequel now out on DVD in which he appears and performs as a club owner. The artist has caught the acting bug but tells us that he wants to hone his skills before he tries to play a really serious dramatic role. We phone-chatted with Ne-Yo recently (there were party noises in the bkg. so we hope he was having fun). The young artist explained the process he went through to executive produce the soundtrack for the film that is packed with hot artists like Rihanna, Joe, Ruben Studdard, Cassie, Mya, T-Pain and others Ne-Yo wants to springboard like Candace Jones.
We still find Ne-Yo to be well-spoken, self deprecating and just a really nice guy. We got the latest on his plans so tune in.....
TeenMusic: Weren't you overseas on tour just recently?
Ne-Yo: Yes, I was over there touring around. We pretty much did the majority of Europe. First we did Australia then Germany, we did London, Paris. We really just got back.
TeenMusic: The last time we talked to you, you were writing tracks for this soundtrack. Now that you've done it, was it rewarding or the hardest thing you've ever done or what?
Ne-Yo: Oh, no, no, no [not the hardest thing he's ever done]. The whole Executive Producer thing, I was a little concerned [about] because I didn't know what it meant to executive produce. They explained to me, long story short, it's just overseeing what music goes on the soundtrack. I was going 'all right. Well, that's what I do anyway'. I write all my own songs and I write for other people so that should be easy and it was. Everybody that I worked with were real helpful and cooperative. I think we came out with a quality product.
TeenMusic: Describe the "writing for a soundtrack' process. Did you see the rough footage and write for what was happening in the story or just write your tunes first?

Ne-Yo Co-Executive Produces 'Save The Last Dance 2' Soundtrack
Posted by Diva on 27 Oct 2006 @ 03:51 am
In the past year, Ne-Yo's gone from an Apollo reject to a top-selling artist. Now, the R&B singer/songwriter adds “Co-Executive Producer” to his resumé, as he prepares for the release of the Save The Last Dance 2 Soundtrack.
"It feels good and it was fun,” explained Ne-Yo - who also made a cameo in the film - during an exclusive Vibe.com interview. “I was a little skeptical of my ability until I was explained what it entailed.”
Save The Last Dance 2, a sequel to the original which starred Julia Styles, Sean Patrick Thomas, Kerry Washington, and Fredo Starr, is about a young woman named Sara (Izabella Miko) who follows her dreams by becoming a student at Julliard, except she is torn between her love for traditional ballet, her passion for the hip hop, and a new love interest.
"There’s many genres of music on this album,” explained Ne-Yo. “The classical style in which a ballerina would dance to as well as the hip hop sounds for a street dancer is what we are trying to personify with the music on the soundtrack.”
Along with being responsible for overseeing the entire album, Ne-Yo composed five of eleven tracks, including a ballad with Joe and Ruben Studdard.
"I think Joe is amazing and I look-up to his songwriting and vocal ability,” stated Ne-Yo. “It was a real honor and pleasure to work with him. He’s an artist that did what I’m trying to achieve successfully."
As far as the track itself, Neyo describes it as “ one of those riding songs. It makes you just want to find a large body of water a drive along side it.”
The movie premiered on MTV and was released October 10th on DVD. The soundtrack will drop on November 7th 2006 and includes music from Rihanna and T-pain as well.
